Hunter

Hunter1Hunter arrived home a few days before Christmas and I was surprised to discover that he was already almost completely house trained. He is now a little more than 3 months and he is very intelligent and intuitive. He is such a handsome little guy, I can't say enough about him. Hunter is the perfect dog for a child. My son, Alex, is 10, and he gives up his computer and video games to play fetch with his new friend. We call it "chase," because Hunter often prefers to keep the ball rather than return it. He already walks with a dignified gait, and it's hillarious to watch him jog away like a prince, ball in mouth. Hunter is ecstatic when Alex gets home from school, and follows him wherever he goes. My favourite trick that Hunter has learned so far is his ability to play soccer. No one believes it until they have seen it, but when we kick one of Hunter's balls back and forth, he will use his front paws to steal it away! He then handles the ball between his front paws. I know that this is related to his hunting skills, and it is amazing to watch.

Hunter2Hunter has only barked twice, and then only when he felt threatened by a menacing cat. When he hears an unusual noise, especially in the middle of the night, he sits up, very alert, ears erect, and listens. If he's still not sure what is making the noise, he goes to investigate.

Of course, Hunter is still a puppy, so there have been clean-ups and some crying, and a lot of chewing, but he's a baby, and with the proper care, training and supervision, he is growing (I am thrilled to see how much he's grown at the end of each week) into a very handsome little guy.
